Why UF and Not UV? Understanding the Difference

UltraFiltration (UF) physically removes bacteria, viruses, parasites, and microorganisms using a precision hollow fiber membrane — the bodies of contaminants are captured and gone from your water entirely. UF works without electricity, at low or no water pressure, with turbid water, with no chemical intervention, and is economical and easy to replace.
UltraViolet (UV) kills bacteria and viruses using UV light but leaves their bodies in the water. It requires electricity, is ineffective on turbid water, does not remove dissolved impurities such as pesticides, arsenic, or fluoride, does not soften hard water, and provides no visible indication of whether it is functioning correctly. Most UV systems also work alongside chlorination — which introduces its own health concerns.
